It contains one of Canada's only free-roaming wood bison herds outside of Wood Buffalo National Park. The area has a very diverse ecosystem that supports lake trout, lake whitefish, cisco, Arctic grayling, walleye and yellow perch; osprey and bald eagles and many more.
